I half-assed the brief (and paid for it) 🍡

TL;DR: Learn the 'Expertise-First' method for building AI tools that sound like you and work for your clients while you're offline.

typing from a little coffee shop in Kuala Lumpur, iced chai latte in hand, digital nomad life in full swing 🍡🌏

Okay, I have to tell you something, Reader.

The first time I sat down to build a Wizard β€” one of those AI-enhanced tools that walks someone through a process step by step β€” I totally half-assed the brief. (Yep, I said it.)

I gave it a loose framework and basically crossed my fingers.

What came back? A pretty little workflow that kind of, sort of did the thing. Looked great. Worked... not so great.

Bones. That's all it was. Bones.

So I took a breath, went back in, and did it the right way.

I gave the AI my vision, the exact steps, the ideal outcome β€” AND I uploaded the actual documents I use with my 1:1 clients. My process. My frameworks. My language. The stuff I've spent years refining.

And wow. Just... wow.

It took everything I already knew and turned it into a fully guided experience that could run without me in the room. I went from "cool, I made a thing (sort of)" to a tool that was genuinely usable, trained, and ready to go β€” just because I put my expertise front and center from the jump.

Here's the part that really got me though:

I didn't create a single new piece of content to make it work.

I just used what I already had.

That's what most people miss when they dive into AI tools. They go in vague β€” fuzzy on the vision, fuzzy on the outcome β€” and then scratch their heads when what comes back feels generic and flat.

Vague in, vague out. Every time.

But when you show up with clarity? When you feed it your actual expertise instead of treating it like the expert? That's when the magic happens.

My friend and collaborator Lise has seen this too. One of her clients, Lisa, built her own AI tool and literally woke up to 17 notifications β€” not "help me" emails, not support requests β€” thank you messages from people who got exactly what they needed, on their own, at 2am, without Lisa having to lift a finger.

Before she had that tool, Lisa was:

  • Stuck in 60+ hour weeks with no end in sight
  • Answering the same questions over and over (and over)
  • Feeling guilty that she couldn't be available enough
  • Wondering if scaling her business would cost her her sanity

Now? She's got boundaries. Deeper client connections. Time back in her day. And a tool that shows up for her clients around the clock β€” even when she's off the clock.

She built it in one afternoon.

(And just so you know β€” she's a mindset coach who once described APIs as "those scary computer things" πŸ˜„ So no, you do not need to be a tech person.)

Here's the truth: if you can write an email, you can build an AI tool. You just need to lead with your expertise and let the technology do what it's actually good at β€” amplifying you, not replacing you.

That's exactly what Lise and I are going to show you inside the Build Your Bot Bootcamp.
